Kfar Tapuach
Kfar Tapuach (, ''lit.'' Apple-ville) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, founded in 1978. It sits astride one of the major traffic junctions in the West Bank. The executive director of the village council is Yisrael Blunder. As of December 2007, it had 800 residents.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Download Attachment )〕 The chief rabbi is Shimon Rosenzwieg.
The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
The town is located near the archaeological site of Tapuach, which appears in the Bible in the Book of Joshua chapter 12〔Bitan, Hanna: 1948-1998: Fifty Years of 'Hityashvut': Atlas of Names of Settlements in Israel, Jerusalem 1999, Carta, p.34, ISBN 965-220-423-4 (Hebrew)〕 as one of the first 31 cities conquered by Joshua Bin-Nun and the children of Israel. ==Demographics==
Although its population consists entirely of Jews, Kfar Tapuach is one of the more diverse Israeli settlements, with its population coming from a range of backgrounds. Founded by a core of Habbani Yemenite Jews from the town of Bareket, Yemen, it has since absorbed Jewish immigrants from Russia and the United States, a large group of Peruvian converts to Judaism from Trujillo, Peru, and others.
